Our Services

At Oxford Pharmacy Store, we support NHS and healthcare providers with specialist medicines, pharmaceutical wholesale, and compliant distribution across the UK.

As an NHS-owned pharmaceutical wholesaler, we understand the pressures facing hospital pharmacy, procurement, and clinical teams. Medicine supply is rarely simple. Availability, quality checks, compliance, storage requirements, lead times, and ordering routes all matter.

Our role is to make that process easier.

We work with NHS organisations, private healthcare providers, NHS Pharmacy Manufacturing Units, and selected commercial suppliers to help ensure medicines reach the right place, in the right condition, when they are needed.

Specialist Pharmaceutical Wholesale

OPS supplies a broad range of medicines and specialist pharmaceutical products to healthcare providers across the UK.

Our portfolio includes branded medicines, generics, unlicensed specials, and selected secondary-care products. We support customers who need a trusted wholesale partner with a practical understanding of hospital medicine supply, procurement requirements, product availability, and specialist handling.

Whether you are ordering routine lines, specialist products, or medicines with specific storage requirements, our team is here to support you with clear information and responsive customer service.

Supporting NHS and Secondary Care Medicine Supply

Secondary care medicine supply can be complex. Demand can change quickly, stock availability can shift, and pharmacy teams often need reliable information before making decisions.

OPS supports NHS trusts and healthcare providers by working closely with suppliers, NHS manufacturing partners, and internal teams to monitor product availability, manage demand, and communicate updates where needed.

This includes support across:

  • Hospital medicine supply
  • Secondary care medicines
  • Procurement-led requirements
  • Specialist product enquiries
  • Shortage-related supply challenges

Unlicensed Specials and Specialist Medicines

OPS works with NHS Pharmacy Manufacturing Units and selected suppliers to support access to unlicensed specials and specialist medicines.

We understand that specials are not always straightforward. Customers need confidence in product quality, ordering routes, availability, documentation, and lead times.

Our team helps customers navigate these requirements by providing clear information, responsive support, and access to a growing portfolio of specialist lines.

Aseptic and Ready-to-Administer Products

Aseptic medicine supply is a critical part of modern hospital pharmacy. Capacity, resilience, product availability, and delivery timing all play an important role.

OPS supports access to selected aseptic and ready-to-administer products, including dose-banded and compounded lines where available. This can help healthcare providers make better use of available supply routes while supporting local aseptic capacity where it is needed most.

Where agreed, OPS can support planned supply, recurring requirements, and urgent or ad-hoc requests where possible.

Temperature-Controlled and Compliant Distribution

Medicine supply depends on more than stock availability. Products must be stored, handled, and delivered in line with required standards.

OPS supports ambient and temperature-controlled distribution, including chilled products where required. Our storage and distribution processes are designed around product quality, compliance, traceability, and patient safety.

From warehouse handling to customer delivery, we focus on protecting product integrity throughout the supply chain.

Controlled Drugs and Specialist Handling

Some medicines require additional controls, documentation, and careful handling.

OPS supports the supply of selected controlled drugs and specialist products where appropriate, working in line with relevant regulatory and governance requirements.

Our team understands the importance of accuracy, traceability, and clear communication when managing these product categories.

Procurement and Shortage Support

We know medicine shortages can create real pressure for pharmacy and procurement teams.

OPS monitors supply challenges, customer demand, and product availability across relevant lines. Where appropriate, we work with suppliers and NHS partners to support fair access, communicate lead times, and identify suitable alternatives or supply routes.

Our aim is not just to process orders. We want to help customers make informed decisions when supply is complex.

Ordering, EDI and E-Invoicing Support

We continue to improve the way customers order from and work with OPS.

Customers can order through established ordering routes, with EDI ordering available for eligible organisations. We also support digital invoicing through GHX, helping reduce manual processes and improve efficiency for pharmacy and finance teams.

Our customer service team is available to support with ordering queries, account information, product availability, and digital process questions.
