Attending on Friday as delegates
Members of the Oxford Pharmacy Store team will be attending the 29th British Oncology Pharmacy Association Annual Conference on Friday 2 October, joining oncology pharmacy professionals from across the UK for a day of learning, discussion and connection.
We are attending as delegates with a clear and simple purpose:
To listen to the people closest to oncology pharmacy services, understand the pressures and priorities shaping their work, and reflect on where OPS could add meaningful value as an NHS-owned specialist distribution partner.
Listening first. Looking for where OPS can add value.
The most useful opportunities do not always begin with a fixed answer. Often, they begin by listening properly.
For OPS, attending BOPA is an opportunity to hear directly from healthcare professionals working across oncology pharmacy. We want to understand what is changing, where pressures are being felt and whether there are gaps in the supply pathway where the right distribution support could make a practical difference.
Not every challenge is a distribution challenge, and not every gap needs another supplier.
We are there to learn where our role could be genuinely useful, whether through stronger supply continuity, better visibility, access to specialist medicines or closer collaboration across the NHS supply chain.
What we hope to learn and explore
During the day, we are particularly interested in hearing perspectives on:
- the current and emerging priorities facing oncology pharmacy teams;
- the current and emerging priorities facing oncology pharmacy teams;
- how changes in treatment pathways and service demand are affecting medicines supply;
- challenges around access, availability, aseptic capacity and continuity;
- where greater visibility or flexibility within distribution could help services plan more confidently; and
- how NHS organisations, manufacturers and specialist distribution partners can work together more effectively.
These conversations will help us reflect on our existing services, identify areas that may need further exploration and better understand how an NHS-owned wholesaler can support the wider system without making assumptions about what teams need.
